With the release of cPanel 11.48, this has introduced the ability to run MariaDB 10 as a direct replacement for MySQL.
I've previously ran Percona on some of my cPanel builds, but it was never officially supported. MariaDB 10 is now officially supported, and allows for inline upgrades etc.
I've upgraded the server to 11.48 manually this evening, and also swapped out to MariaDB10. You should see a slight performance increase with the introduction of MariaDB10.
